Brooklyn in da' house!

The Miss Brooklyn pageant is a preliminary to the Miss America crown and it reappeared after a 16-year absence from the Miss NY pageant system last week and was immediately a source of controversy because the winner is a queen who’s not from Kings.

Leigh-Taylor Smith, 22, was the winner of the pageant and proudly took it back across the East River back to her home in Manhattan. The pageant featured seven girls including Smith who competed at in the Miss Virginia last year.

Now Brooklyn'ers before you go calling up Tony Soprano to "Take care of this problem" perhaps you should listen to the advice of the director of the Miss Brooklyn Pageant, Kim Thomas. “We only had a few committed girls from Brooklyn, and with that amount of girls, we couldn’t even have a contest.”

And now that we know Leigh-Taylor Smith is going to the Miss New York state pageant... The rest of you's guys should just for getta' bout it.

Punk'd the Pageant - or - America's Next Top Pageant?

Ashton Kutcher and Tyra Banks have join forces for a new reality TV show.

“Punk’d” star Ashton Kutcher and “America’s Next Top Model” host Tyra Banks have plenty of experience dealing with reality TV. In addition to being the stars and hosts of several hit shows, Kutcher is also the executive producer on “Beauty and the Geek”. Tyra Banks, aka Miss Thang, is the host of her own daily syndicated talk show. Now comes word that the two have teamed up to create a new reality-based TV show that will follow a group of contestants competing in a beauty pageant.

The as-yet untitled show will be beamed out on ABC. The network that dropped the mother of all pageants, "Miss America", nearly 4 years ago. The network has placed an order for eight episodes of the new series and is keeping the precise details of program a secret although it’s believed that there is a twist in the concept. Nooo, go figure!

Kutcher’s fifth and final season of “Punk’d” was broadcast last year on MTV while the fifth season of “Beauty and the Geek” will premiere on The CW Network on March 11. “America’s Next Top Model” just began its tenth season.

The new Ashton/Tyra beauty pageant show is a business fusion between both stars’ production companies and Warner Horizon. Tyra’s company is also developing a fashion magazine-like reality series for CW. The new show is slated to start airing in the summer.

Kutcher isn't just hanging out at Demi's house. He's also keeping busy with his TV career. His hidden camera show “The Real Wedding Crashers” debuted on NBC last year but was recently cancelled. However the Style Network has swooped in and picked up the rights to commission new episodes.

Since it’s still the early days of the embryonic beauty pageant reality show no one knows whether Tyra Banks or Ashton Kutcher would appear in front of the camera, but knowing these two stars egos both will want some face time on the show.

Atlee High's 'Funny Pageant'
Competition is tongue in cheek for students vying to be 'Mr. Atlee'
Friday, Feb 29, 2008 - 12:08 AM Updated: 07:54 AM
By JANET CAGGIANO: TIMES-DISPATCH STAFF WRITER
Times Dispatch Newspaper

Ian Foley strutted confidently onto the Atlee High School stage to work his magic. But the bunny was a no-show, and the handkerchief trick fell to pieces. "OK, we are going to have to work some kinks out of that one," he said as he walked off the stage. Good thing it was only a dress rehearsal.

For the past month, Ian and 10 of his classmates have been preparing for the 2008 Mr. Atlee High School pageant, to be held tonight. The annual event, which raises money for the prom, has become tradition in Hanover County. The county's three other high schools also put on a pageant featuring guys.

"We are not the beauty pageant," said William Nott, an Atlee junior. "It's the funny pageant."

The Atlee pageant, which raised about $9,000 last year, will feature an opening dance number, celebrity impersonations and talent -- a term the guys use loosely. Contestants, all juniors and seniors, also will dress in tuxedos and answer an interviewer's questions.

"This is great for the guys," said Jeremy Watts, a physics teacher. He is organizing the show with biology teacher Kristen Householder. "It gives them the chance to get in front of a large audience, which most of them have never done. It brings a whole new experience to them."

In more ways then one. Daniel Cale, a junior, will dress as the video-game character Mario and race around on a plastic tricycle.

"It will be a lot of fun," Daniel said. "Plus, the babes love the bikes."

William will take the musical route. He's going to dress as a Chinese woman and play the recorder. "I've been watching the pageant since the eighth grade," he said. "I've always wanted to be a part of it."

The goal, pageant contestants say, is big laughs.

"You have to be serious in school all day, so it's great to come to something like this and have fun," said Alex Hall, a senior. "It's fun to poke fun at ourselves." Alex will impersonate Michael Jackson and then show off his musical skills during the talent portion of the show. He's not the only one singing -- but he is alone in his intent. He's definitely not looking for laughs, while Ridge Carter, wearing a wig and singing "Don't Stop Believin,'" is.

"This is a really fun event because it's something different," said Blaire Chandler, a junior. She is one of four girls helping to organize the pageant and choreograph the dance moves for the guys. "The students like to come to see their peers make fools of themselves."

The guys wouldn't have it any other way. They will wear strapless gowns, impersonate characters such as Mr. Clean and Rick James, sing off-key, break dance, and jump through the air waving blue and silver streamers.

"It's not weird at all," Blaire said. "But it's definitely funny."

Got Married? No problem, do a Mrs. Pageant!

OK Pageant girls and boys get out your maps.

Todays pageant destination is Hurricane, Utah. Yes, I said Hurricane and Utah in the same sentence. Don't ask me, last I checked the possibility of seeing a hurricane hit the state of Utah is about as great as the opportunity of seeing Britany Spears win Redbook Magazine's "Mother of the Year" award.

Jen Gubler is a writer for the "Hurricane Valley Journal" in Hurricane, Utah which is just a few miles up Interstate 15 from the Arizona Utah border. In her research for an article about pageantry Jen just happened to call the the director of the Mrs. Utah United States Pageant to ask a few questions about pageantry in the Beehive State. After leaving a voice mail, she got a return call from the director and tons of emailed info congratulating her on her interest for doing the pageant. What began as a phone call for research had somehow now turned into a unique opportunity to get behind-the-scenes for a story.

Many questions raced through her head.
"What would my friends think?"
"What would my husband and kids think?"
"What would I wear?"

All questions that married women all across America ask themselves when they start finding out more and more about Mrs. Pageantry. To Jen's amazement she recieved tons of support from her friends and family who all thought it was a great idea for her to do the pageant.

In the coming months the Hurricane Valley Journal will be doing a series of stories following Jen Gubler's quest to become the next Mrs. Utah United States. Best of luck to her and we will be watching too.

Here in North Carolina we have two womens pageants that are coming up in the next couple of months. If you have never been to a Mrs. Pageant you should plan to come out and see one. Its a great experience for all the women who come from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and experiences.

Caged Heat, The Pageant!

Who knew there were so many pageant movies in the works?
I am starting to feel like the Leonard Maltin of pageant movies on here.

There have been a lot of movies made over the years about women in prison. Honestly most of which were rated with three letters. Well in keeping with the theme, there's a new movie coming out on HBO that's got all the "Caged Heat" you can stand and as a bonus it concludes with a crown being awarded! Thats right, its time for a good 'ol women's prison beauty pageant and Amanda Micheli has made an Academy Award nominated documentary in capturing it all.

Micheli, a documentary film-maker from San Francisco, filmed the pageant in Colombia. The country, not the city in South Carolina. The film, entitled "La Corona", was nominated for an Academy Award in the documentary short category and has already won an honorable mention at this years Sundance Film Festival.

Micheli ran across an article about the pageant in the USA Today and after talking the film idea over with a friend who was from Colombia, picked up her camera, called a couple friends for help, and cashed in some frequent flyer miles to Bogata for the three of them. Micheli and her two friends who acted as crew members were only allowed limited access to various prisoners that were contestants. Some days they were allowed five minutes, other days many hours. Such irregular access left the crew including Micheli wondering what they would be able to get as a final product, but the one thing Micheli did know was that the topic would be of interest to a wide audience just as it was to her.

The 45-minute film documents the pageant and the challenges of winning the crown (La Corona). It features real young women like Angela, an armed robber; Angie, a gang member; Viviana, a guerrilla terrorist; and the paramilitary assassin Maira, who competed for the crown the year before, but failed to win.

The contestants were very open and candid with the film-maker. Micheli felt that their loneliness was the reason for their candor. Like most pageant dramas, the film concludes with the crowning moment for the winning contestant. However, the real story is what happened to the winner a few months after the pageant and many months after the film was completed and submitted to the academy. That's when Micheli heard that the winner had died only 10 months after being released from prison.

"She got a bullet wound to the back of the neck," says Micheli, "And because of academy rules, I could not include the news in the film. She was hanging with the wrong crowd, and a boyfriend or a john killed her. She was a single mom raising two kids. Couldn't find a job. It's all bittersweet. She'll never be able to see the film, and I know she would have loved it."

"La Corona" will air on HBO later this year.

Miss America is down with NASDAQ

Miss America, Kristen Haglund banged the gavel to close the trading session at NASDAQ yesterday on behalf of the Miss America Organization and The Children's Miracle Network. Well traders were hoping for a miracle, but stocks continued on the weeks decline as the NASDAQ closed down another -16.80 .... SELL SELL SELL!!!

In other Miss America news, Miss Haglund, I mean America, will also be appearing on the Glenn Beck Show over on CNN Monday night at 7pm ET. If you miss it then make sure to catch it on replays at 9pm and Midnight. No word yet on topics to be discussed although you can probably bet it will revolve around her glorious victory in Las Vegas and her very old grandmother who also was a pageant queen.

Butcher a sheep, Get a crown!

How would you like to watch a TV show about a pageant that features the contestants butchering a live sheep?? Well believe it or not it really happens and you can watch it all unfold on your local PBS channel. Oh and dont forget to send your local channel a tax deductable donation after doing so.
Remember - It's your public television.

The Miss Navajo Nation Pageant was filmed for a full length feature documentary film by Billy Luther, a documentary film maker who just happens to be Navajo. In fact, Luther's own mom was crowned Miss Navajo Nation 1966. His documentary centers around a contestant named Crystal Frazier, a young Table Mesa resident, on her quest to become Miss Navajo during the 2005 pageant. Miss Navajo Nation is held annually during the Navajo Nation Fair in Window Rock, AZ. Contestants are challenged through skill and talent tests, and quizzes them on tribal government and Navajo beliefs.

At one point in the film a group of former Miss Navajos greet the contestants in their native Navajo language as a test of their understanding of the Navajo culture. Frazier freezes, although instead of pulling a "Teen Miss SC USA", she opts to ask if the question could be repeated in English. (I'm no Navajo judge, but I gotta believe that was still gonna be a point deduction.)

I'm not gonna ruin the ending for you and tell you if she was the winner or not, but Luther was asked to comment on his thoughts about the pageant he simply stated,
"This is a film about a beauty pageant contestant, and there's a winner and a loser."
"But sometimes, as in life, the winners aren't always the winners and the losers aren't always the losers."

Hmmm, I am gonna have to ask my Lumbee friends if they ever had to skin an animal for the title of Little Miss Lumbee or Miss UNC-P? That might be worth a drive to Pembroke to watch in person!

When all else fails, talk about girls in bikinis...

Not alot of news in the pageant world this week. Don't worry though, something is bound to happen as long as Katie Rees and Tara Connor aren't in jail.

So since we have some down time I thought I would talk about a subject near and dear to my heart and that is swimwear. Yeah its a challenging platform, but someone has to pick up the cause and carry the flag.

If you're looking for a great swimsuit for competition and you really want to be on top of the game then there are only a few choices of designers to consider. We are very lucky to have one of them right here in North Carolina.

Check out Jamye Shaw.

Miss NC reads to me every day.

Miss North Carolina brought her traveling "Read to Me" literacy program to Salisbury Academy and the Civitan Club on Thursday.

Jessica Jacobs, who just finished as fourth runner-up at the Miss America pageant in January, is taking a year off from graduate school at North Carolina State University to travel the state speaking on the importance of literacy. She's giving out free books through FirstBook, a nonprofit organization.

She visited Rutherford County Wednesday and was heading to Hendersonville after leaving Salisbury.

The High Point native and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduate founded the "Read to Me" program in Davidson and Randolph counties and is working to spread it throughout North Carolina. She works closely with Communities in Schools, delivering books to 40 chapters across the state.

Read more about Jessica's travels here in the Salisbury Post.

Do you eat? Do you usually buy Miss NC tickets?

Well you're in luck. Miss North Carolina Jessica Jacobs is auctioning off lunch with her for you and a friend and two free tickets to this years Miss North Carolina Pageant on eBay this weekend.

Like that little Geico gekko says, "Doesnt matter what you say when the Queen asks you if you want to have lunch at the palace or the castle. Either way, you're having Filet Mignon."

Grab your credit card or Paypal and place your bids here!
Bidding closes Monday Feb. 18th at 6:30pm

Vermont could care less about PageantFire.

Wow, its been a interesting first month here on PageantFire.com

Thanks to all of you who have emailed with ideas, comments, and congratulations about starting the blog. Hopefully it will continue to morph and grow into a unique resource that you can come to and find info, news, and a little humor sprinkled in.

Living here in North Carolina I was expecting a large amount of support from the hometown crowd. And true to form, North Carolinians showed up in masses when it came to views of PageantFire.com last month. 1602 of you to be exact. What amazed me was the fact that PageantFire was viewed all across America from coast to coast. Yes, the internet is a powerful tool. The state of New York came in second with 284 viewers followed by Florida with 89, California 88, Georgia 83, Virginia 82, and Texas with 70.

Every state was represented by at least one viewer. I say viewer because there were a dozen people in West Virginia that looked at the site, but its unclear if they could actually read. The only state with zero views was Vermont. So what gives Vermont'ers?? Represent! I have more readers in Germany than I do in your state! Great, I just realized that I have became the David Hasselhoff of German pageantry. Hmmm, now I just have to figure out how to make it in Asia. Maybe Miss Universe, Riyo Mori can help me. Focus Lenn, focus.

Seriously Vermont'ers, show the PageantFire website some love. I mean I put a picture up of your girl flippin' pancakes at Miss America. Who better than Miss Vermont to know more than anyone about a good item for maple syrup. What do I have to do to earn your love and admiration?? I can't post a portrait of your Miss Vermont that went on to win Miss America. You haven't ever had one. I am just trying to help you here.

Oh well, sleep on it and get back to me.

Hey, since they aren't actually reading the blog, maybe a few of you New Yorkers could take a road trip in the next couple weekends and spread the word. Thanks.

Pageant on!

Miss Ohio hates Michigan...Go figure!

It was bad enough that the Ohio State Buckeyes lost college football's national championship game a second year in a row last month.

Then, a scant few weeks later, Miss Ohio didn't win Miss America.
Miss, ahem, Michigan did. Ouch!

A smiling Roberta Camp, Grove City High School graduate, Ohio State University student and reigning Miss Ohio, said last week that she's taking this particular setback to That State Up North in stride, although some others are not.

"I've had a number of people approach me and say, 'That's OK, Roberta. Now we've got another reason to hate Michigan,' " Camp said with a laugh.

Read more about how Roberta hates Michigan here.

NC native wins and is Numero Uno!!!

A three year old Beagle by the name of Uno captured the title of Best In Show Tuesday night at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club. One of Uno's co-owners, (there are actually four), is Jon Woodring of Advance, NC.

Money is the reason many "Top Dogs" have multiple owners. Most owners share the costs of travel and the costs to participate in the annual dog show circuit. Each year dog owners spend as much as $10,000 just to compete. Hmmm, sounds like a pageant.

And the top prize at Westminster carries alot of notoriety, but did you know the winner gets nada! Now its really starting to sound alot like a pageant!

There is no prize money for winning Westminster, not even a giant cardboard check. Although Uno and his owners have a small window of time to cash in on some possible lucrative endorsement deals...

Hey Uno, you just won Westminster. What are you going to do?
Well unfortunately he probably can't get into Disneyworld, and even if he couldn't ride the rides. After all he is only 15 inches long. I guess he will have to stick to pimping dog food and tasty treats. Apparently at Disney only oversized mice and Pluto get to do the real fun stuff.

Read and see more of Uno here.

Expensive Beach Trip

The Miss Myrtle Beach and Miss Paradise Resort scholarship pageant will be held this Sunday from 2-5 p.m. for the teen category and 6-9 p.m. for the miss category, at The Carolina Opry. The pageant is open for girls ages 13-24. This pageant is an official preliminary for the Miss South Carolina and the Miss America pageants. Four winners will be selected and will compete in the Miss South Carolina and Miss Teen South Carolina pageants to be held in Spartanburg. Tickets for the event are only $45.

ONLY $45 GEEZ... I realize its the Opry, but it's not the Grand Ol Opry. Are Faith Hill and Tim McGraw performing that night too? I'd give ya $45 for that. For more info on the pageant call 843-446-2209.

Miss Spartanburg wants you to eat your veggies!

Heather Williams, Miss Spartanburg SC USA 2006 wants to remind you to eat your veggies! William's, 23, is also out to get herself a new crown and she is well on her way to doing so. She is currently one of sixteen finalists for PETA's Vegetarian Girl-Next-Door contest. And if she is lucky enough to win, she will stand along side her Veggie King. This year People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) expanded their annual Sexiest Vegetarian Alive contest to include Girl Next Door as well as Guy Next Door.

Heather found out about this honorable title after reading about another Spartanburg resident Jessica Comolli who was a former title holder of PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian. And if you wanna find out more you can to. Just go to GoVeg.com

Oh yeah I remember her...

Alot of people remember Miss Georgia's dramatic departure from the Miss America stage this year as she and Miss North Carolina were the last two girls of the Top 10 left onstage for talent. Both were holding hands at the end of talent competition and only Miss North Carolina got the opportunity to continue on in the competition. However most forgot that there was a second girl who made the Top 10 but didn't get to perform their talent before the live television audience. She was cut early on during talent. Well that girl was Miss Iowa Diana Reed, and she had picked herself up a little Preliminary talent award for her baton twirlin' skillz earlier in the week. And here is why.

Today is my favorite day of the year!!!

No, not because its iHop, CMN, and Miss America Pancake Day.
No, not because its Abe Lincoln's Birthday.
It's the release day for the 2008 Sport's Illustrated Swimsuit Issue!

Remember back-n-the-day before there were Maxim, FHM, STUFF, and all these other magazines out that feature barely clothed women? All we had to look forward to each year was the new swimsuit issue from Sports Illustrated. And you thought Dad's all across America were joining to get the latest sports news, a free team jersey, and limited edition Dallas Cowboy football shaped telephone? I THINK NOT!

Well today is a new year and the greatest thing about the SI Swimsuit Edition is that not only do you not have to fork out $5 bucks to buy it anymore, you get to see thousands of additional outtake photos from this years selected girls online. Oh and did I mention they brought back the body painting again. SHHHWWWIIIIIING!

OK and while I am at it, I wanna let you girls in on a little "Man Secret". You know when your man pretends to show you how the issue really illustrates the new fashion styles of bikinis that are coming out this season.... Well honestly... He doesn't care! And if he brings up the fact that it was shot on the coast in Israel... So what. Trust me all he is looking at is the babes.

Now we all have our favorites. Elle "The Body" McPherson, Cheryl Tiegs, Cindy Crawford, Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, or some of the other well known supermodels, but my choice for Model of the year has to go to Brooklyn Decker. Brooklyn is from right here in Charlotte, NC. A graduate of Butler High School. And former model for Evolution Model and Talent.

See more of Brooklyn and the rest of the SI Swimsuit hotties right here, right now!

Katie Rees - Once a USA Party Girl. Always a USA Party girl

It's hard to keep a good party girl down. And when your name is Katie Rees and you're the former Miss Nevada USA that was dethroned for having several inappropriate photos of yourself taken.... Well why try? According to TMZ.com Katie got her tiara-less self in alittle more hot water last week when she assaulted a Las Vegas Police Officer. The officers originally were gonna cite Miss Rees, but doing anything halfway is just not Katie's style. Katie and the officer decided it was time for her to go have some new headshots taken by the nice photographer down at the Las Vegas Law Enforcement Center. Somebody should have warned her that his name wasn't Fadil, they didnt have it in the budget for a make-up artist, and they don't offer retouching....

Stamina is the name of the game when it comes to being a pageant or drama queen, and Katie proved she's our girl when she showed up a few nights later over at the Bellagio's "The Bank" night club. Katie, in true pageant form, showed up in a black and white striped dress that looked like it was right out of the new Tadashi PrisonWear line. Way to go Katie, I hope you bought one in orange too. Sooner or later your probably gonna need it!

Which Miss USA PageantGirl are you??

The gang over at MTV Networks have come up with a neat little arcade question game to go along with their show "Pageant Place". Through a series of questions it determines which Miss USA girl you are most like. And before you assume, no I wasn't Tara Connor!
I was Rachel Smith! Play the game.

Rochelle Williams - Writer for the Fayetteville Observer Hates Pageant Girls

I was recently struck by the tone of writer Rochelle Williams, a writer for the Fayetteville Observer. Her article on the ongoing process of determining the fate of Miss Fayetteville's Jenna Walters veered from journalism to condemnation of pageantry in general.

Obviously "Miss Rochelle Williams", hey look I gave her a title, wishes that she had gotten a crown and sash at one time or another and decided that any chance to take a beauty queen and pageant system down a notch or two would be a good thing to do.

May I suggest two things:
1."Miss Rochelle Williams" actually attend a pageant and get to know the people and the process before making such broad and general statements about pageantry. Perhaps then she will learn that their are many types of pageants, not just the ones that feature as "Miss Rochelle Williams" writes "25, physically fit, pretty, poised female who represents us all". Only then will she learn that there are pageant systems for a whole range of women, including young, old, short, fat, black, white, gay, and just about every other label that you can hang from a sign around a contestants neck.
2. The Fayetteville Observer continue to reporting facts and not playing judge and jury until a legal process as well as an organizational process is allowed to take place in a timely manner. And that doesn't mean in the next 24 hour news cycle as they probably wish it would.

From the Fayetteville Observer (or should we say Destroyer?)

PAGEANTS ARE PLAYED OUT
BY ROCHELLE WILLIAMS, OBSERVER EDITORIAL WRITER

She’s beautiful. She’s your ideal. And she allegedly plowed across five lanes of traffic and blocked oncoming drivers to intimidate an acquaintance in another car. It’s hard not to smirk, just a little, at the news that Miss Fayetteville may suffer from road rage — or friend rage — especially when you learn that she was awarded Miss Congeniality a few years back.

But don’t make so much fun that you miss an important point. The reason that Jenna Walters is in the news isn’t that she erred after winning a scholarship contest. There are thousands of people in this region who have received honors and awards and also ended up on the wrong side of the traffic police. Most don’t make the paper.

Walters is making headlines because pageant winners are supposed to epitomize someone’s unrealistic idea of the perfect woman. Beautiful but intelligent. Dignified yet charismatic. Talented and selfless. Just not so selfless that they aren’t physically fit and impeccably groomed. Oh, and they can’t be old, meaning older than 24, or married or have children.

Read the rest of the condemnation here.

Who Killed The Miss Arkansas Beauty Queen??

On Dec. 15, 2005, just days shy of her 20th birthday, college student and Miss Arkansas contestant Nona Dirksmeyer was found bludgeoned to death in her apartment. The gruesome scene rocked the all-American town of Russellville, Ark. and spelled the grisly end to an inspiring but troubled life.

As a young girl, Dirksmeyer was haunted by a childhood of sexual abuse. For years she internalized this struggle, but it was her introduction to beauty pageants and her relationship with high school boyfriend Kevin Jones that eventually helped her transform from a painfully shy and reserved girl into a confident, strong young woman. Dirksmeyer even made preventing child abuse her cause when she appeared in pageants.

Bon Voyage Miss France

She must have worked on her talent for hours!

Aesthetically Challenged Yet Somehow Pleasing Beauty Pageant

Don't ask me....
Here at PageantFire we just report the news.

Second Amendment & the Right to bear crowns

Much has been made after the recent shootings at a Missouri town hall meeting about guns and more specifically the Second Ammendment gun laws. Recently, the Illinois Council for Handgun Violence released a study that showed that 25% of all 3-4 year old pageant aged kids had the strength to fire a hand gun and that number increases to 70% of all 5-6 year old pageant kids. And did you know that there are more guns in the United States than there are people? Thats a scary thought.

Well that little fact got me thinking.... And yeah thats a scary thought too...

Each week I go out to pageants and see many of the same pageant kids getting crowned over and over. Could it be that there are more crowns in the United States than there are pageant kids? Wow, what a revelation. Well I guess the important thing to remember is "Crowns Don't Kill People. Ignorant People With Guns Kill People."

Mario is gettin' Fergilicious

Well I think I have figured out why we had to suffer through the Miss America Pageant watching Mark Steines on Nyquil. It appears Pageant HostHunk Mario Lopez was up in the gym workin' on his fitness. And when he wasn't doing that, apparently he was writing about it. Mario has a new workout book that's due to come out shortly. The book is aptly titled "The Mario Lopez Workout". Where did he and his publisher find all that creativity??

Guys, if you wanna look like Mario, you can place a pre-order for it by clicking one of the Amazon links on the side. Ladies, sorry no details if it comes in a scratch -n- sniff McDreamy version yet...

Miss New York wins the Superbowl 17-14!!!

Oh wait that wasn't Miss New York Elizabeth Baldanza playing....but I am pretty sure that it was Miss Massachusetts Valerie Amiral in Tom Brady's uniform. It wasn't the Tom Brady and the Patriots we had seen all year..

Its Pageant Groundhogs Day!

Well its a very special day in the calendar year.
Pageant Groundhogs Day!

Bad news though. Miss Pennsylvania - Rachel Brooks and the Prognosticator Extraordinaire himself, Punxsutawney Phil, both saw their shadows this morning when they woke up. So you know what that means.... Six more weeks of winter. So keep your faux furs and elbow length gloves out for a little while longer. And remember, if you have to do any cold weather parades, do your wave stretches before attempting any parade route longer than three city blocks. You don't want to get "Pageant Elbow" at such a young age.

WHEN PAGEANT GIRLS ATTACK!!! Episode two.

Today's episode may seem really familiar. Not because of all the references to pine trees and barbeque, but it does have actors from our very own Miss NC Pageant.

Fayetteville Beauty Queen Accused in Crash
By Sarah A. Reid Staff writer - Fayetteville Observer

Jenna Racine Walters won the Miss Congeniality title in 2006.
However, the Fayetteville, NC beauty queen is accused of veering through traffic to block another car, then driving recklessly up and down a five-lane road in an apparent attempt to intimidate the other driver.

Miss Fayetteville 2007 Jenna Racine Walters was charged Nov. 9 by the Southern Pines Police Department with aggressive driving, according to a crash report. She is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on Feb. 22.

Hmmmm wonder if this is eastern BBQ or western BBQ....? Well something sure smells like its gettin' ready to be grilled over a pit. Honestly even though I was raised near Lexington, NC I never could tell the difference between the two. To me its all just a bunch of good 'ol chopped up pork products sandwiched in between a bun... Well anyways, back to our stories. Pass me a napkin and read more of juicy details by clicking here.

Miss America loves Pink and Blue.

What did you expect me to say?
That she likes footlong weiners and bad football teams??
Nah, that would have been too easy!
